"Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls;Today with the energies of Scorpio passing over all of us, I take time to honor grief that comes from death, endings, and loss. The journey of the soul in a human body is the journey of dualistic experiences on the earth plane. Honoring grief is an important part of the scorpionic journey through birth, experience, death, and rebirth. Death and rebirth happens every day, every season, every life. Our souls constantly are navigating death and rebirth, death and rebirth, cycles, death and rebirth...
I invite you to honor your grief as you traverse this planet. I believe as a soul prior to birth we choose our parents, our birth circumstances, and our journey with other souls we are destined to meet. There are times this all makes sense. At other times how could we choose the challenges that are on our path? Why would a soul choose loss or conflict, or confusion, or poverty, or illness? How can this be?
From my experiences so far it appears Earth is a grand soul school where we have opportunity to grow, to learn, to overcome, and to love. Yet it is not an easy school. It is one where we endure duality, linear time, and forgetfulness of an eternal soul existence. There is pain, as well as love available in our experiences. Some of us come in with comfort, loving families, health, wealth, and opportunity. Others come in with poverty, difficult circumstances, and a lack of love. And then there are others with every combination possible. Somehow we set up any variety of experiences for our soul growth. And still I ask, "Why did I as soul choose to go through...?" when it was so difficult, or unloving, or harsh?
Some of the greatest challenges and the greatest blessings have come in the world of destined relationships we have jumped into. Some of our beloveds we meet in this world stay a day, a cycle, or a lifetime. Sometimes those we thought we would have a lifetime are gone way sooner than we could ever imagine... through death, illness, moving away, or walking away.
I grieve today those I love who I thought would stay but had to go. I grieve the mistakes and the challenges that I thought we would over come; and yet, we came to endings of one sort or another that I am still processing. Coming to acceptance of what is is the journey. Learning is the journey. Loving more deeply, listening more intently is the journey. And... and there is much I still have to learn as I grieve.
I honor our soul's agreements; and somehow pray we each heal in ourselves what we could not heal together. I pray that we find others who can help us love ourselves and each other, that we can honor those who had to go on a path where they could heal that was not with us.
This may be friends, family, acquaintances. Who are those you need to release and to let go of and find greater love for yourself, that you may also love them even though they may not be in your life any more?
Some of us carry scars that are not seen by the world, yet we know they have made us the person we are today.
As we graduate from October and move into November very soon, take time to honor your journey, your woundings and your wisdoms, your losses, and your gains. What love can you take from your journey of life? What love can you give as you expand beyond where you have lived before now?
The energies of November promise great change and also great challenges. May we take our scars and be wise, be more loving, more kind, more conscious and present, that we speak with only love, that we choose with love and wisdom, and that we are better for all we have been challenged with.

Our Ancestors are all who have walked before us. Typically we think of ancestors as our parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, and all who share our DNA who have passed. Yet many tribal peoples have a larger view of who our ancestors are. The Lakota people say Mitakuye Oyasin, "All are my relations. Tree, water, sky, earth, animals, brothers, sisters, and those that have taken their spirit walk are our kin." The Q'ero people of the Andes say Kausay Pacha, "All is connected; all is an abundance of living energy. All is life, and all have the essence of love. All are children of the Great Mother and Father – in spirit and physical form." These Ancestors who have walked before us are the ones who have taken a physical body to experience love, sorry, joy, and the pain of being human. They have now moved into the Spirit Realm.
Because they have experienced human incarnation, they share both spiritual and physical DNA. They can have great compassion and empathy for the experiences and lessons you are experiencing now. They also have another perspective now that they are in the spirit world. They can support and give guidance, teachings, healing, forgiveness, and even protection.
Just because they are in the spirit realm doesn't mean they are more evolved than you. Some ancestors are more developed, and some are not. Some ancestors even receive healing because of your path of healing and awakening. They are in observation and respect your journey.
There are different types of ancestors you can call upon. You have familial ancestors born of your physical DNA specific to this incarnation. They can be helpful when working to heal specific ancestral patterns. They often offer much love and protection. You may even experience their gratitude as you can heal patterns born of this lineage.
There are also ancestors specific to land areas, known as Land Ancestors. These territorial or land ancestors are stewards and spiritual guides connected to a particular land or area/territory. Honoring these ancestors is highly beneficial when buying a home or property. Suppose you have a property with problems — such as a lack of property value, arguments in the house, bad water, accidents, and mishaps of any sort. In that case, you may want to get to know the Land Ancestors and Spirits and ask for their help. Working with them can more readily bring the property back to balance.
Spiritual Ancestors are lineages of Spirit beings that your soul repeatedly chooses to work with, such as archangel Michael, Buddha, Christ, Kuan Yin, Mother Mary, White Buffalo Calf Woman, etc. You may have had significant lifetimes in Egypt or as a Buddhist Monk, or in a particular religious sect. You may recognize this early in life though it may not make much sense then. An example of identifying a spiritual lineage may look like this: "I grew up Christian and loved Jesus, but I found myself reading the Tao de Ching and asking about reincarnation by the time I was a teen. Buddhism, Hinduism, and Egyptian mystery teachings powerfully resonated when I got into my 20s. The core teachings of Jesus resonated, but the religion's hell, fire, and damnation did not. Eastern religions and philosophies, metaphysics, and shamanism all rang true without question once they came into my awareness.
There are infinite possibilities, and a particular ancestor may reside in multiple "categories."
Being on planet Earth is a soul's learning opportunity. We choose our parents, siblings, and DNA lineage when we jump into a body. Every part of our soul's choice to incarnate offers opportunities to advance as a soul, whether it be loving or born of fear. Your DNA codes from your earth family carry gifts and challenges. There may be diseases that your parents, grandparents, and others in your DNA pool have again and again experienced, such as heart disease or cancer. As a soul, this does not mean you will get these diseases, yet it may show you a pattern that you will face. You may be the one to break the pattern and heal that which was not healed before you. Or the pattern is part of your learning and growth. Earth family DNA also offers many gifts. Often there are families who are all artists, or doctors, or musicians. These DNA codes may also be part of why you chose that DNA. You may want to carry on a particular focus from another life, or begin a new focus. The DNA supports either. Or you may be the different one who does not carry on with the family pattern, whether it be the gift or the challenge to heal.
Recognizing the patterns of your earth family is one of the first steps to healing in your soul's earth adventure, as well as offering healing to your family lineage. Looking backwards to your parents and their experiences, as well as their parents and beyond can give you greater understanding of what you inherited. The traces of trauma within the body of your mother, your father, your grandparents, etc. are passed on if they are not healed in that person (epigenetic.) These trauma patterns can manifest in different ways. Difficult relationship patterns, abandonment, broken heartedness, ill-health, etc. can all be passed on as patterns that you have to face to heal. Alcoholism, drug abuse, and other types of abuse are often sent through family lines.
We often choose our Earth family stories and DNA that mirror patterns we have been working on in other lifetimes. The learning, growth, and healing we take on in a life through our physical DNA patterns give us opportunity to heal misunderstandings and to bring more love into our lives. Karma is the indebtedness to ourselves to grow through mistakes and misunderstandings that we return to more love within ourselves, and for the world around us.
To heal it requires that you face the patterns and acknowledge them. By the time we realize there is a trauma pattern in our ancestral line we have most likely already begun to heal. Working with intention, energy work, shamanic journey, prayer work, altar work, meditation, etc. is a path inward to one's higher self, as well as ancestral healing. Shamanic journey work and healing can support the spiritual and psychospiritual work required to transform and transmute the pain of the past. Forgiveness is a very important part of the journey.
Having a safe and wise healer and guide can be a very important part of the journey.
As a mystic, shamanic practitioner, and one dedicated to my own journey of healing the wounds of the soul, and of a sensitive being who feels all the pain in this world, I find there is a journey to be acknowledged on the path of come to love, to peace, and to wholeness. This path of the mystic often involves big initiations through suffering, stepping into and through the dark night of the soul, shamanic death and dismemberment. This is a sacred journey for the wounded healer, the mystic, the shaman, and the light worker. It is not an easy path.
The Divine understands the purpose of suffering is to lead us toward wisdom, strength, and ultimately empowerment. There are loving Divine Beings of great wisdom dedicated to helping us alleviate suffering without depriving the soul of growth it can bring. We can call upon them when our pain is too difficult to bear, including the anguish we feel when faced with the struggles of others. This is ultimately for the benefit of all beings, and not just the one.Call Kali, Ganesha, Archangel Michael, and all your Heavenly Heroes to support you. There is great transformation at hand for us in these times. May we be persistent in calling in our helpers, angels, and Heavenly Hosts of Heroes (a term my selenite sword maker friend Tom Ledder coined for the masters we call who are best to help us - Archangel Michael, St Germain, Ganesha, Jesus, Mary, Kali, Durga, etc… who is on your team?)

Jaguar Shaman Hummingbird Medicine is a reflection of Katherine's deep connection to the plant and animal medicines of the Shipibo shamans. The jaguar is one of Katherine's main totem animals. The plant medicines of tobacco and ayahuasca are also favorite spirit helpers. And hummingbird is always a well-needed medicine and totem of joy. If you look deeply on the left side of the painting you will also see owl emerging from the bark of the tree.
This Jaguar Shaman's nickname has been Shaman Guy, the shapeshifter, as he was coming onto canvas. He is a tobaccero - or shaman who is an expert at working with the sacred plant medicine of tobacco. He heals with tobacco, and calls in many medicines and their songs to bring healing to others.
The medicine of this shaman, the night time, the jaguar, tobacco, and Madre' Ayahuasca, are all calling you to the pure medicine of the heart that hummingbird gives. I recently had a student ask my definition of love. Is love all the feeling of attraction? Is it how a mother feels toward a child? Can it be much more than an emotion?
Mystics, shamans, and scientists alike will tell you that everything in the Universe is energy and vibrates. Thought and emotion create. If you think, feel, speak, and act in love, you create your world with love. If you think, speak, feel, and act out of judgement, anger, fear, and trauma, you create your reality with these vibrations.

Love is the Universal force or frequency that gives life. It heals, restores, and creates miracles. The ancient Solfeggio tone measurement of love is 528 HZ. This frequency vibrates within the cells of our bodies as well all around us. The love frequency is within all natural life forms, from the chlorophyll of plant life to the DNA of human and animal life. It is the energy of "good vibes" we feel when we enter the forest or into a sacred ceremonial space or the divine connection experienced between two open-hearted individuals.
Sacred art of Saints and Masters often depicts a radiant, illuminating heart indicative of the power of love expressing through the loving masters and guides. Current-day scientists' are proving what ancient mystics and healers have understood about the frequency of love as a healing, harmonizing, vital energy. American neuroscientist Dr. Candice Pert discovered that 528HZ opens our chromosomes and exposes the DNA. Biochemist Steve Chemiski states in the book The Fork in the Road that the basic structure of organic chemistry, the carbon-6 hexagonal ring reflects the sacred geometry of the 528 HZ frequency. Dr. Joseph Puleo describes it as an extraordinary force that priests and healers of ancient civilizations used to heal and manifest miracles.
Dr. Len Horowitz discovered that the frequency of 528 HZ is the energy that brings spiritual signals and activating frequencies to higher consciousness. The frequency of Love is of course associated with our heart spaces. 528HZ is heard in the heart of everything. Within the dream everything is alive with the energy of Spirit. It has energy, vibration, and frequency. The Q'ero people of the high Andes in Peru will tell you about energy, defining it in 'life giving' energy, called Sami, and 'energy that will ultimately make you sick and kill you', called Hucha. Hucha is man-made from fear, anger, hatred, jealously, resentment, and all things born of negative, harmful emotions and attitudes. Learning to clean and clear Hucha, and to fill with Sami are foundational practices in staying balanced and healthy mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
Another important principle and Universal Truth shamans work with and understand through direct experience is that 'All is Well, No Matter the Appearances of Things." This can be a hard truth to swallow when the world seems harsh, unforgiving, and often dangerous and divided. The chaotic times we are experiencing now are extreme and often reflective of people against other people. Yet, when you are able to move to the higher plane of spiritual awareness, the place of non-ordinary reality, you gain a higher perspective of the soul's journey that weaves into the workings of every day life, and the larger perspective of humanity's struggle to evolve on a soul level collectively.
Beyond this human reality, all is well in the Spirit World, where there is perspective on the game of life and the Earth Walk. Learning to journey within to 'see' more clearly can help to reduce the stress of the human life and bring understanding and peace to the soul's journey.
You are the Blessing! In the teachings that were passed on to me, I discovered a beautiful and pure teaching for the soul to emerge through the challenges of human life. Within each of us are gifts and beauty regardless of our human persona. I have been able to embrace this for 25 years or more consciously as I have painted soul portraits for more than several thousand people, peering into their true essence beyond their personality to see and sense their true beauty. Learning to see and sense the beauty in nature begins to reveal the blessings that are ever present in our world. Sitting in ceremonial spaces begins to open our hearts again to see the beauty in another, as well as within our own being. Returning to the sacred within all life is a path that reveals how we bless one another when we sit in our heart spaces and look for the Divine within and all around us. Well, I never really did all society wanted, as that didn't make sense either.
I am the author of the new book Artist Shaman Healer Sage, as well as a spiritual adventurer, an intuitive, a visionary artist, a shamanic practitioner, an entrepreneur, and a soul on a grand adventure of waking up in a transformative time on the planet Earth.
